So much can happen in 20 years. My life is very different now then it was in 7th grade. I live in a yellow house in LaGrange and am married. I have a dog that is 2 years old, her name is Lila. I am a preschool teacher but I also work part-time at a bakery I opened. One of my employees went to Gurrie, Ali.
Going to Gurrie helped me and taught me a lot. In Life Skills, I learned how to sew and in Applied Tech I learned how to use cool machines and made a car! Gurrie also helped my social skills and I made some awesome friends. My advisors taught me how to open a lock which came in handy many times. I also learned how to use my time wisely to get to class and turn things in on time. Gurrie was a great school and I hope other people got as much out of it as I did.
Yesterday, I got an invitation in the mail for a Gurrie reunion. It sounds like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go and see my old classmates. I wonder if anybody has changed since then. Everyone is probably going to look different and I’m very excited. There might be people I didn’t like so much at Gurrie that I might like now or the opposite. I wonder if I’ll recognize people or if they’ll recognize me?
I remember 20 years ago, the IPad was just coming out. Now almost everyone has one! There as popular as IPods were in 7th grade. It was amazing to me then, and touch screens were only on certain things like cell phones and IPod touches, but they’re very common now. Even home phones and computers are touch screens! Technology sure has changed since I was 13.
I had a lot of fun and have many memories of Gurrie. I’m sure the Gurrie reunion is going to bring back even more. I never knew that I’d be doing some of the things I’d be doing now like being a preschool teacher and opening a baker with an employee that went to middle school with me. All the new technology that we have now was never something I imagined to happen so quickly. So much has happened in 20 years, and there’s probably much more to come.
